What Lines does not do
Lines Basic is the simplest tier on purpose. If you need any of these, you'll outgrow Basic fast. Lines Hybrid (P2) or Callspring AI ($199+) is a better fit.
- Ring multiple phones (ring groups). That's Lines Hybrid.
- Answer the call with AI. That's Callspring AI.
- Press 1 for sales, press 2 for service (IVR menus). That's Lines Team (later phase).
- Extensions for multiple employees on the same number. That's Lines PBX (later phase).
- Mobile softphone app. Use call forwarding to your existing phone instead.
- Conference rooms or call queues. Not in scope for Lines Basic.

Lines FAQ
› Is there an AI listening to my calls on Lines?
No. Lines forwards the call from your business number to your phone. The audio doesn't go through any AI. The call gets logged (caller, duration) and optionally recorded if you turn that on. That's it.
› Can I switch to AI later without losing my number?
Yes. The number stays. The customer history stays. The portal stays. You flip routing_mode from 'forward' to 'ai' in your brand settings and the next call hits the AI agent. Or you can run both and switch by time of day on Lines Hybrid (coming soon).
› What if I just want voicemail, no forwarding?
We have a voicemail-only mode. Callers reach your number, hear your greeting, leave a message. You get the recording and a notification. Useful if you want a business number for SMS or for forms that require a real phone number, but you never want it to ring you.
